In April, the Board agreed to a request to launch IT Professionals Day or Month campaign. These special recognized days are different in every state and each state has a process for passing a resolution to recognize a special day. This activity is designed to introduce members to their local legislative representatives.

Why get to know your local legislators?

There are a lot of reasons why you want to have such an introduction. Here are four:

  • Be known, so when they need to ask an expert, they think of you.
  • Learn how to find the person who can take the action you need.
  • Learn how to talk to legislators.
  • Learn how to write a resolution.

If you accomplish the task, in the end you will have made great contacts that you can leverage later when making sure that the SMB IT industry is taken into account when legislation that affects us being considered. Think of this as a foot in the door.

If you’d like to be the local expert that your State legislators depends upon for great advice and industry expertise, then get ready to participate in this campaign. We’ll have the particulars out to members soon.
